The CROWN (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural hair) Act is a law that prohibits discrimination based on hair style and hair texture. Currently, it is passed into law in only eight jurisdictions including California; New Jersey; New York; Virginia; Montgomery County, Maryland; Cincinatti, Ohio; Colorado; and Washington (see map below). In 43 states, it is legal for you to be discriminated against because of your hair. To help end hair discrimination in the workplace and in schools in all states, you can sign this petition.
